‘Twas the night before…maple season?

First off, we know we haven’t been the best about posting on here and we’re sorry! Our goal going forward is to make this more of a priority.
Over the past few weeks we’ve been eagerly anticipating the warmer temperatures. The buckets were hung on our trees with care in hopes that spring would soon be there. And now we can officially say maple season is here! When we go outside we can hear the pinging of the sap dripping into our buckets and the steady stream of it pouring from our lines into the metal tanks. Our favorite part is being out in the middle of the woods and listening to the sap dripping with all the birds in the background. We were even lucky enough to see a deer close by while out in the sugarbush.
It can get tricky with the extra warm days we’ve been having because that can cause the sap to spoil if you’re not careful. Just earlier this week we were kept busy with an 18 hour day of preparing to boil, collecting sap, and then boiling it all down into syrup. It was exhausting but well worth it to see all that syrup made!
